Bob Holloway
Bob Price Holloway is a native Missourian, Born in 1928 in Centralia, he was raised in nearby Columbia. In 1942 he moved to Kansas City where he attended Westport High School and was “inspired, motivated and taught” by art teacher Shelton Wihite. Professionally, he received on the job training in the commercial art dept of Western Auto Supply Co. In 1954 he became an advertising agency art director, receiving many Art Directors Club Awards for both print and television throughout his career. He has served as president of the Kansas City Art Directors Club. He spent 25 years as an art director and illustrator in his own “ Bob Holloway Studio and Gallery.
It was in 1952 that he participated in his first art fair. Since that time, the awards he has won for painting and drawing are to numerous to count. For 26 yrs he exhibited at the Country Club Plaza Art Fair, then in 1979 he moved on to be the co-founder of Art Westport as an opportunity for local artists who had been juried out of the other event. Ultimately in 1988 he retired from advertising to exhibit his work at shows across the country.
By the turn of the century he was exhibiting in some 40 shows a year, from Minnesota to Texas and from Arizona to Massachusetts. Through his participation he has seen his work purchased and displayed in such diverse places as Argentina, Australia, Canada, England, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Switzerland and countless others.
Bob still resides in Kansas City fine tuning and educating others with his craft of mixed media artwork.
